Thanks to Botchtower particularly for bringing out something I hadn't considered. Maybe they don't experience exactly the same level of suffering, in terms of distress.. I have no idea. But animals do cry out in pain, as well as displaying fear towards people/things that have caused them pain.. that much I do know. Chalam: Thanks for replying. I expected that answer. How would you explain the suffering that occurred in the creatures that existed before mankind were created then?

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

should child abusers be allowed to go door to door
by soft+gentle ini'd like to work toward ensuring that the wts bans pedophiles from sharing in the door to door work out of consideration for the public.
i'd like to ensure that this ban applied not just to those who have been convicted of pedophile activities but also to those who have secretly confessed to elders.
would this subject be appropriate for an e-petition?

Just thinking about Avengers post... How about petitioning those in power to enforce a law whereby anyone who either goes door-to-door or publicly distributes literature (including leaflet distributors and postmen etc. if need be, due to technicalities such as Jw's not being salesmen/representatives and so on..) must wear a badge (as the Mormons do, not that that's relevant) with at least their full name displayed.. Then, using Megans Law in the US or any equivalent in other countries, the householder could at least look Jw's names up to see if they have a conviction.. Or better still, make them have a CRB pass displayed on the badge in the UK if they have one.. Probably a bit of a pie in the sky idea, but I read somewhere even authors going into a school need to get a background check just to read to a large group of children, on a one-off basis with virtually no chance of being alone with a child! Let alone regular visits to the childs home (if it's a return visit or bible study). To be honest, I don't think the government in UK or US would do anything though..

Hi Rob, welcome to Jwn. Thanks for your input. I'm wondering, though, what the fall and redemption of mankind has to do with innocent animals suffering due to no fault of there own? Just to be clear, I never said that I don't believe in a God. I just find the idea of a loving and just God irreconcilable with animals, who have committed no sin, enduring all kinds of pain and suffering because of mankinds 'fall' .

More "Elders" Doubt They Are Appointed By The "Holy Spirit"!
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inthe study edition of the watchtower says the elders are appointed by jehovah's holy spirit.
it's confounding the society does not realize that more and more elders, do not accept this claim.
i have racked my brain, wondering how many brothers and sisters actually believe this, fall hook and sinker.

Who does this??" -- What kind of mind would think this illustration up?.. would be a better question, in my view. Have you read post guideline 3, by the way?

Hello and welcome. There are plenty of people here to discuss your issues with. I've been a bit oversensitive at times, but Jwn's helped to free me, psychologically at least.. and given me a different perspective of life. Hope you settle in well here :)

Thanks again to all who replied. I'm hoping that someone can provide a good reason as to how a loving God can watch a baby elephant be torn apart by hyenas without anyone to save it..having already built the hyenas to do such things. Would you do that if you had the power?

Our door to door activities were a personal ministry and not recognised as representatives or volunteers of the Watchtower Bible And Tract Society
by smiddy inhow do you feel about that ?were you misled (again) after all these years ?
this article from the newspaper in the latrobe area reffering to steven unthanks case is truly disturbing.
its an affront and an insult to any and everyone who has participated in the ministry of jehovah`s witnesses over many, many years.talk about being thrown to the wolves.how low can this organization go in saving face at the expense of those whose loyalty and devotion is discarded for a perceived image.absolutely shocking.

Thanks ziddina.. I'd never considered that angle. Mind you, the only experience/knowledge I have in relation to fossils is that I've watched Jurassic Park, lol! Just thinking, I recall once raising the issue of parasites that feed off creatures from the inside etc to a Jw... Their reply was to shrug and say "Well, that's the way Jehovah made them". End of conversation..

Think about it.. Has the Watchtower changed their interpretation of a Scripture? (superior authorities for example)
by The Quiet One in..now read this.
reasoning book page 65 paragraph 3 -- " two things can help us to understand the bible correctly.
first, consider the context (surrounding verses) of any statement.

Doesn't anybody find it interesting that the interpretations they print are Gods, according to this statement? I won't bump this thread again if its not interesting..

Thanks for adding deep and insightful comments Cofty, as well as for actually staying on topic, unlike somebody who shall remain nameless .. Ah well I suppose it's bad karma for the last thread I hijacked, lol. Thank you Tec for your honesty and sincerity, as ever.
